Qualifications
Under the supervision of the Retail Pharmacy Manager and/or pharmacist, the Coordinator/Technician, Oncology Retail Pharmacy Services acts as a liaison with KentuckyOne Health employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and others to coordinate the effective an! d timely provision of the delivery of retail pharmacy services! .
Additionally, with the supervision of Registered Pharmacist, the Coordinator/Technician, Oncology Retail Pharmacy Services prepares various pharmaceutical preparations and products for dispensing to KentuckyOne Health Oncology Retail Pharmacy patients.
This position will also collaborate with team members in the oncology clinical areas to assure appropriate communication of clinical information occurs, prior-authorization of medications is in place, and assist with patient assistance program application. The objective of this position is to assist Oncology patrons, Oncology physicians, and Oncology coordinators/nurses with convenient and efficient access of Oncology related medications and supplies. The coordinator/technician will interact with Oncology related discharge planning and coordination management as needed to identify methods to constantly improve services and incorporation into the activities of the Oncology Program and Pharmacy Plus.
Additionally the coordinator/technician delivers medications, supplies, and equipment to Oncology retail pharmacy patients, their families, team members or others within the KentuckyOne Health system using a variety of methods including but not limited to personal on-campus delivery and US mail. This position will maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of deliveries and reports of area serviced and volumes for tracking and trending.
The position of coordinator/technician is vital to the functions of Oncology retail pharmacy services as it develops and maintains working relationships with Oncology patients and the Oncology department who rely on the services provided.
The coordinator/technician participates in marketing activities relative to Oncology retail pharmacy services and the mission of KentuckyOne Health
.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Required Experience:
Prior exper! ience in retail pharmacy, oncology services or related field preferred.!
One year experience as a pharmacy technician preferred, preferably with training in retail setting. Customer Service Experience preferred.
Licensure:
Kentucky
State
Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of retail pharmacy processes including dispensing and clinical activities. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personality types. Working knowledge of retail pharmacy services preferred. Excellent customer service skills are required.
Marketing skills preferred. Proficient knowledge of math and pharmacy calculations. Certified pharmacy Technician status is desirable.
