This position is responsible for providing professional nursing care primarily to the hematology/onco! logy outpatient setting, but may also provide care to other patient types in the infusion setting. Applies knowledge of current cancer treatment modalities to patient care. Administers chemotherapy and biotherapy agents according to institutional policy, standards, and guidelines. May mix chemotherapy/biotherapy agents on occassion in the absence of a pharmacist. Answers telephone calls from patients. Provides patients and families with emotional support, information and guidance during treatment. Educates patients and families in areas of health and illness that maintain optimum levels of physical and emotional functioning. May conduct individualized patient education sessions, in conjuction with the multidisciplinary team, regarding the patient's treatment process, side effect management, etc. Performs all aspects of phone triage, including but not limited to, nurse assessments, referrals to home health, hospice, Durable Medical Equipment companies; managing prescriptions! . Documents appropriately in the medical chart and in the Elec! tronic Medical Record (when established) as necessary. May rotate between facilities (both Blazer and Bob-O-Link locations) as needed per staffing needs. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of one year experience in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration required. Current CPR/BLS certification required and maintained. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration certification preferred. ONS chemotherapy certification preferred. Registered Nurse competency is validated by the Competency Based Orientation (CBO) plan. Maintains designated yearly competencies by unit. Demonstrates a strong belief and behaviors consistent with the Saint Joseph HealthCare Mission and Core Values (Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence).
Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take! direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.
Qualifications
Education:

Experience! :
Within the last two- (2) years, one- (1) year of nursing expe! rience in a clinic setting or two- (2) years of acute hospital nursing experience preferred.
License/Certification:
Current State license as RN required.
CPR certification required.
